Doing the Impossible
Jesus said, "With God, all things are possible." (Matthew 19:26)
This principle can -- and should -- be the driving force behind our spiritual experience and our ministry efforts. It's not enough to play it safe, reaching only for goals within our grasp. We should attempt things so great for the glory of God that unless He intervenes, we will certainly fail.
Think about the goals and projects in which Faith For Today is currently engaged. We are attempting to reach people throughout North America to tell them about Christ in a variety of ways:
• with Mad About Marriage seminars around the country;
• by giving Young Adult Ministry grants for community projects;
• by expanding Faith for Today’s presence on mobile media devices.
Now we add to that list the multiplication of potential viewers through non-traditional broadcast methods, such as DirectTV’s on-demand video services and Yahoo’s connected TV, giving us access to hundreds of millions of new viewers. All of this is designed to reach the entire world with the message that Jesus Christ is crazy about them!
Many would say that such a thing is impossible. But is it really?
Jesus said, "With God, all things are possible." We need to remember what this promise does and doesn't imply.
First, it doesn't imply that all things are easy. Accomplishing the impossible typically takes extended effort.
Second, it doesn't imply that all things are immediate. Reaching worthwhile goals requires a long-term investment of time.
Third, it doesn't imply that all things will be painless. Personal sacrifice is part of the process.
It may not be easy, immediate, or painless, but for those willing to step out in faith, for those bold enough to trust God to do the impossible, the reward will always be greater than the investment. As Paul said... Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. (Ephesians 3:20-21)
